Company History

Northern Innovators Inc. was incorporated on January 7, 1998. It was founded in part to facilitate changes in supply of product and work with market direction.

In 1998 NI recognized the need for innovative plants and flowers from other parts of the world. "Timing is everything." Breeders were looking for ways to introduce their products to the market while consumers were demanding new plants. Northern Innovators’ vision was to bring these two together.

Who We Are…

An Agency for some, and a Sales and Marketing company, as well as a Plant Broker, for others:

As an agency we are responsible for many levels of business including sales, marketing, and finance for our partners. As a "Plant Broker" we perform a valuable function of selling, distributing, and financing to both our production nurseries and the nursery (our customer) receiving product.

We Provide...

Sales

We sell specific lines of superior plants and offer cultural tags for most. We make sales all across the country to customers that a breeder or producer could rarely hope to visit. We provide information on new and exciting plants that customers may not know or otherwise hear about.

Education

We are a conduit for product information. We teach the customer how to grow and market the crops they sell. We educate the breeder and producer on the needs of the industry. We offer to supply Grower information Calendars and currently help with production scheduling.

Facilitation

We find ways to get products to the customer safely, inexpensively, and efficiently. We have accounts with preferred carriers and arrange the shipments. Due to the volumes we ship, we often offer better freight rates than an individual customer could hope to achieve on their own. We help with all the paperwork involved with each shipment and give advance notice of arrival.

Financing

We have financial resources to extend terms to our customers. Plants take time to grow and many customers require terms to facilitate such an expense. Northern Innovators’ invoicing and collection process assures a breeder or producer of payment even though they are shipping to what is for them, an unknown end customer.

Florist de Kwakel: Subsidiary of Hilverda a Group of Companies, The Netherlands. NI is North America’s exclusive agent responsible for all potted crop operations in N. America. NI produces, displays and promotes the world’s number one potted gerbera, “Floriline”. NI also offers Florist’s Andes potted Anthuriums to the grower specialists across the continent.

GGG (Gruenewald): NI is Canada’s exclusive distributor for cuttings of Annuals, Perennials, Grasses, Succulents and more. GGG’s 225 acres of production globally is offered to N. America with great commitment to delivering a high quality product. GGG offers tissue culture mother stock and bare root programs as well.

Agrexco: NI represents an Israeli group of companies known individually as Cohen, Jaldety, Hishtil, and more. Cohen backs a low cost solution to the world for Spring plants while Jaldety offers new and unique plants. Hishtil is a true Herb specialist with a large selection and outstanding quality. The uniqueness of these companies is that they are all able to share transport costs and pool together to create a single shipment to anywhere in the world.

Danziger: Possibly the world's largest breeding company with innovation in new colors and flower forms. Danzinger now offers perennials and other significant plant species.

Together with our partners we believe that our products are the best in the industry and that they are of the highest value for the lowest cost.
